A short film with live recordings of the ward visits and the voices of those involved conveys the atmosphere that the “Music on the Ward” project created in the hospital.

The innovative person-centered music-making in hospitals was investigated in the international research project "ProMiMiC / Music on the Ward" at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in cooperation with the University Clinic for Radiooncology at the Vienna General Hospital AKH.

These videos were created during the COVID-19 pandemic. The musicians of MusiCare performed via video stream for patients in the radiation oncology department of Vienna General Hospital. An on-site visit was not possible due to the risk of infection. The team's music therapist was the only one allowed on the ward and visited patients at their bedside. Patients were able to communicate with the ensemble via video conference and request personalized music. The video shows the ensemble improvising to music in response to a patient's request. The narrator briefly tells the story behind the music. The outstanding support from the audiovisual team at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna contributed significantly to the success of this format.
